Welcome to Dr. Stymie’s Lab, where mankind’s oldest discovery is subjected to the newest questionable research. Fireology 101 explores the delicate science of fuel selection, airflow, ignition, heat management, flame control, and the mysterious human compulsion to poke a perfectly good fire with a stick every three minutes.
Under the watchful eye of Dr. Stymie and his Chief Fire Officer, students investigate the legendary Fire Triangle: heat, fuel, and oxygen. They’ll also discover the unofficial fourth element: one person who insists the fire needs “just one more log.”
Years of rigorous fireside experimentation have produced Dr. Stymie’s three fundamental principles:
Know it. Control it. Respect it.
Possible side effects of advanced Fireology include collecting firewood when there is already plenty, developing strong opinions about the proper marshmallow color, staring silently into flames for unreasonable periods of time, smelling like wood smoke for three days, and suddenly becoming an expert on exactly how everyone else should build a fire.
But Fireology isn’t only about the flame. It’s about what happens around it: cooking, staying warm, telling stories, sharing a drink, laughing with friends, and creating the kind of memories that somehow get better every time the story is retold.
